Carisa Olivo

President
Carisa Olivo

Carisa joined the SchoolForce board in 2019, after many years volunteering at Central Elementary’s PTA, including 4 years on the district-wide PTA Council. She has been working to better align and coordinate PTA and SchoolForce fund raising efforts and previously served as the PTA Liaison and Education Commitment Campaign Co-Chair.

Carisa and her husband, Leo Leung, have two children: one at Ralston Middle and one at Carlmont High School. She worked as a funder and community builder at United Way in Boston and Pittsburgh. She has a BA in political science from Amherst College and MA in urban and environmental policy from Tufts University.

Eric Bookstein

Eric Bookstein

Eric has lived in the Bay Area since 2004 and has lived in the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District since 2011. He and his wife have two sons at Nesbit School. Eric joined the SchoolForce Board in 2018 and currently serves as the SchoolForce treasurer and has previously served as financial secretary.

He currently works at Visa as a Vice President in the Strategy Group. He has an MBA from Rice University and a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Indiana University.

Hector Casab

Secretary
Hector Casab

Hector Casab joined the SchoolForce Board in 2018 and serves in the role of Secretary. Hector is married to Julia Williams, and they have two children, one at Ralston and one at Carlmont. He has been actively involved in the district over the years.

Hector works in the biotech industry and is a member of the Band of Angels. He earned his MBA from Santa Clara University.

Aaron Daru

Aaron Daru

Aaron’s has been on the SchoolForce board since 2018. He has twin boys at Ralston and has lived in Belmont for more than 12 years.

At work, Aaron is the Director of Product Management at Sylvan Road Capital. Prior to that he was President at a consulting firm which provided outsourced programming services. Much earlier he worked in New York for Merrill Lynch and as a consultant for Alliance Capital. He attended Cornell University and graduated with a B.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering.

Ying Gonikman

VP Annual Giving
Ying Gonikman

Ying Gonikman joined the SchoolForce board in 2018. Ying was part of the Measure K campaign serving as chair for VoterCircle. After Measure K passed, she continued to advocate for school funding by serving as Sandpiper Chair. She has been a resident in Redwood Shores since 2009 and has two children at Sandpiper Elementary School. Ying enjoys volunteering in class rooms and in youth sports leagues. She is excited to work on encouraging parent community involvement at all levels and ensuring that the schools in our district continue to excel.

Ying holds a BA degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley and works at Oracle. Ying is an avid reader and loves being in the outdoors.

Jake Kaldenbaugh

Endowment Chair
Jake Kaldenbaugh

Jake is currently the global head of Accenture’s corporate venture capital program where he is responsible for executing and managing the company’s multi-hundred million dollar Strategic Minority Investment program. Prior to that he held a variety of investment banking and strategic corporate development roles within the technology sector.

Jake is a Chartered Financial Analyst designation holder and a former member of the San Francisco and Los Angeles Societies of Financial Analysts. Jake is the proud parent of three children, two of which are currently in the BRSSD school district with another soon to join shortly and is married to Amanda Kaldenbaugh.

Cristen Shinbashi

Financial Secretary
Cristen Shinbashi

Cristen has been living in the Bay Area for over 24 years and has two children attending Sandpiper School. She serves on several boards including AYSO and NorCal Collie Rescue and is excited to be part of the School Force team.

She currently works at Stanford University in the Provost’s Office – Faculty Affairs, and has a BA degree from UC Santa Barbara.

Jo Kupbens

PTA Liaison

Jo moved into Belmont-Redwood Shores School District in 2014 with her four children. Currently, she has a son at Ralston, a daughter at Carlmont and two students at university. She most recently served at the Ralston PTA president working closely the ECC Steering Committee to help engineer a strong start to our joint fundraising efforts.

She is also the current president of the Carlmont Scots Booster Board and mentors collegians at two nearby Universities as the Chapter Key Advisor for chapters of her sorority.

Sherie Lyn Hafalia

Gala Chair

Sherie Lyn Hafalia and her husband, Michael, have lived in Belmont since 2012 and have three children at Ralston, Central and Cipriani. Sherie has volunteered at Central Elementary teaching music theory, recorder classes, ukulele lessons, and has helped with their fundraising events for the past 6 years.  She currently serves as the Central PTA Executive Vice President. Sherie works at Stanford University as a Conference and Events Manager at the Graduate School of Business and also owns Pili Lani Events, curating weddings and corporate events.

Sandra Sanvido

Sandra Sanvido

Sandra has served on the SchoolForce board since 2017. Previously held roles include President; VP, Strategic Communications; and Fox Chair. Sandra and her husband, Marco, have lived in Belmont since 2007. They have two sons: one at Ralston and one at Carlmont. Sandra has been actively involved in the community as an avid school volunteer, former Fox PTA Board member, and a leader in Cub Scouts.

Professionally, Sandra is an independent Product Marketing Consultant. She has an MBA from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University.

Tim Hoffman

Tim Hoffman

Tim and his wife Anne were both born and raised on the Peninsula, and have lived in Belmont for over 20 years. They have two children attending Ralston and one at Carlmont High School.

His professional background includes positions as a professional economist with particular emphases on applied finance and economic & consumer research. Tim also has extensive product management & development experience in the financial services industry. Tim holds BA and MA Degrees in Economics from U.C. Santa Barbara.

Bernadette Doerr

Central Co-Chair
Bernadette Doerr

Bernadette has been on the School-Force board since 2019. She represents Central Elementary. She also serves on the board of the Buck Scholars Association.

Professionally, Bernadette helps companies assess culture and manage change. She studied leadership & culture as a PhD student (Haas School of Business), and attended Georgetown University many moons ago (BSBA/MSFS). She enjoys LEGO-building with her son and husband, exploring Belmont with their German Shepherd, and penning brief autobiographical sketches in the third person.

Alan Kissick

Central Co-Chair

Alan Kissick is a proud father of two kids at Central Elementary. He first got involved through programs like Art in Action and is a regular volunteer at Central. When he is not working with SchoolForce, Alan is a global health and local patient advocate related to non-communicable and infectious diseases.

In his spare time, Alan is passionate about cycling, the great outdoors, and music, and loves to learn.

Marian Wells

Cipriani

Marian Wells is excited for her new role as Cipriani’s School Force Chair. Marian and her husband, Jay have two children, one at Cipriani and one at Ralston.  She has served on the Cipriani PTA Board since 2016 holding various positions.  Marian is also serving her first year on the Ralston PTA Board as Historian. Marian’s background is in Education and taught elementary school for 13 years.

Allegra Newman

Fox

Allegra Newman is the SchoolForce Chair for Fox Elementary. She and her husband, Dan, have two children at Fox. Allegra has been part of the PTA Board at Fox since 2019 and is looking forward to getting more involved with SchoolForce and helping community members understand its important role.

Allegra is originally from Cleveland, OH. She has a dual BA degree in Biology with a Concentration in Marine Science and Psychology from Boston University. She also holds a MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, East Bay. For the past 12 years Allegra has focused her professional work in adult acute care hospital settings working with patients who have speech-language and/or swallowing disorders. During COVID, Allegra took a break from work to focus on supporting her kids at home.

Nivedita Sahasrabudhe

Nesbit
Nivedita Sahasrabudhe

Nivedita is excited to represent Nesbit on the SchoolForce Board. She brings many years of volunteering experience at various levels – co-op preschool Board President and Secretary, chairing events at Nesbit, representing Nesbit on the PTA Council and working in the classroom. Nivedita and her husband, Anand, have two boys. One is a Ralston Ram and the other a Nesbit Puma.

Nivedita holds a BE in Electrical Engineering from India and an MS in Computer Science from The Ohio State University. For eight years she worked as a graphics software engineer at an incredibly special, award winning animation and special effects studio. She earned a tiny credit for the movie The Incredible Hulk.

Jeff Goldman

Ralston
Jeff Goldman

Jeff Goldman, and his wife Juliette, have two daughters at Ralston and Carlmont. Jeff has taken on the role of Ralston SchoolForce chair and previously served as Cipriani SchoolForce chair. He’s excited to work with our district’s outstanding instructional faculty, staff and other professionals to make BRSSD’s schools the best they can be.

Jeff’s secret identity is as a compensation and benefits attorney with Cooley, based in Palo Alto. At home, he enjoys spending time with Max the Dog and performs with Pied Piper Players.

Debbie Pan

Redwood Shores

Debbie joined the SchoolForce board in 2021 and is excited to be more involved in supporting our kids and schools. It takes a village! She looks forward to meeting and working with our community. She has a background in communications, and has worked in a variety of analytics and program management roles.

Ying Li

Sandpiper
Jake Kaldenbaugh

Ying Li joined the SchoolForce board in 2020. She has been a resident in Redwood Shores since 2012 and has two children at Sandpiper Elementary School. Ying enjoys volunteering in classrooms and outdoor activities. Ying is focused on the essential work of supporting of the school community and encouraging family involvement at all levels. Ying holds a BS degree in Engineering from Harvard, a PhD in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley and is a marketing leader at Gilead Sciences.
